Local is best for advice

If you’ve always wanted to know how to talk turkey but we’re afraid to ask – then it’s worth taking a trip to an award-winning regional butcher!

A survey by the Meat Trades Journal found that one in seven adults are too embarrassed or scared to ask for help when it comes to preparing and cooking meat.

So now, Geoff Riley of Riley’s Butchers, Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth, is encouraging people to tap into the expert knowledge of their local butchers during National Butchers’ Week, 25th – 30th March.

Q Guild butcher Geoff, who recently had an appearance on BBC Breakfast, says that this initiative is not only about accessing the experts but supporting your local high street too.

Geoff says: “National Butchers’ Week is a great opportunity for us to bang the drum for the local butcher and remind people that we are here to help, no matter what the question.

“Your local butcher has knowledge about meat that you won’t find anywhere else, plus they will know exactly where their meat is sourced from.

“We want to encourage people to tap into that knowledge, learn more about meat and, most importantly of all, learn how to cook and enjoy it at home.”

To celebrate National Butchers’ Week, Riley’s will also have a range of products on special offer throughout the week.
